The air show "Arctic Thunder" was one was the best shows I have been too over the years. The planes were pretty much the same, but with a few exceptions. The Canadian Snow birds were there, the Marine Harrier
, and a few stunt planes. The main event was the Navy Blue Angels. Living on base in TLF has had its advantages. Our unit is right next to the flight line, we got to see the show 3 times! What a treat. The Snowbirds, the Blue AngelsThere was a sad note to the program. On July 28th, a C 17 went down while practicing for the Air Show. All 4 crew members died in the crash. There was beautiful memorial set up for the men with their pictures, flowers and guards at the C 17 static display. The F 22 unit did a fly by memorial for them. My heart aches for the families. They were there at the show. They felt the show must go on. And so I say Scott would have wanted the same thing. My prayers are with the families now as they go on.
The children were able to see Scott's old plane, the AWACs. Thinking they would be excited to see where he used to sit and where he would sit now.... NOPE. They just walked right through. The other statics were more exciting, hahaha.
The day started rainy, ended sunny with the Blue Angels thundering through the Arctic sky. I can't wait for next year's Arctic Thunder.
With love,
Angela
