Blackfoot Indian Reservation

My sister and I have always been interested in the Indian nations or First Nations as they are called in Canada or Aborginals in Australia. We have been told growing up that our great grandmother was a Cherokee. I have always wanted to know for sure if that was true. I look back at pictures of my great grandmother Carrie and wonder, were you really a Cherokee? In my hometown the Indian nation was the Catawba nation. We have been coming and going off the reservations in Wyoming and Montana. The Blackfoot reservation has a museum that explains the plite of the plains indians, how they were peaceful, then they warred with each other, then with the white man. The handiwork, the beading of the women was amazing. There was an art gallery included also. The reservations at first look no matter which one I enter are sad. I read in Sarah Palin's book that her husband was Alaskan Indian and that she and Todd work for the betterment of the nations there in Alaska. She says alcohol, drugs and depression are a problem. You can see those seem to be problems across the board. I would like to get involved once I get to Alaska with Ms. Palin. There is so much pride and history that these things shouldn't bring them down. I enjoyed the wonderful museum and learning about the folks who lived in the plains so many years ago, who's blood still runs today in the plains.

with love my friends,
Angela
